Charles Collin was born in Fordham on 16th March 1910 (Newmarket Q2-1910 3B:476), baptised in Fordham on 8th May 1910, son of Benjamin and Mary Ann COLLIN (née FLEET).

1911 census...Aged 1, he was at Church Street, Fordham with his father Arthur Benjamin COLLIN [44] labourer born Fordham; his mother Mary [40] born Isleham; brothers William John [15] (domestic boy) and Jack [3] and sister Florence Emma [10]. All the children were born in Fordham. All of Mary's six children survived.

He married Bertha Eva PARR (born 16-3-1916) in 1935 (Cambridge Q4-1935 3B:1403). In 1939 they were living at Collins Hill, Fordham. Bertha married Frank BRIGHT in 1951


Without any Army records and especially being an Engineer, it is impossible to say if Charles was wounded, or ill or where this originated. It was of course caused or aggravated by military service.


Charles Collin is buried in Fordham (St Peter and Mary Magdalene) Churchyard
